Aurora Scapellato

Aurora Scapellato was born in Ragusa (Italy) in 1988. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Catania in 2011 and a Master’s degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Pisa in 2015. In the same year, she obtained an early stage researcher position at the European Joint Doctorate Program HPC-LEAP to work in the field of Lattice QCD. She has been studying High Energy Physics and in particular the properties of strong interactions, mainly in a non perturbative regime. In her Master’s thesis, she has investigated the topological properties and the _ dependence of SU(3) gauge theory at zero and finite temperature by using Monte Carlo lattice simulations.

Aurora has been selected for the position of ESR 11 with joint degree awarding Institutions University of Cyprus (UCY) and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW). The project entitled "Observables probing nucleon structure and BSM physics" is supervised byProf. Constantia Alexandrou and Prof. Francesco Knechtli.
